Thank you & Good night!

After 423 posts, this blog is moving to its very own domain: www.msbeahaven.com! I have decided to consolidate all of my web presences down to my one site (with the affiliate social media sites, of course.)

It's still in process, but more bells and whistles will be coming very soon...Keep your eye on the space for updates and regular blog posts on a regular basis!

Check it out.

I won't be updating this blog anymore. Thank you for your loyal readership. See you in the funny papers!

And Now for a Little Diversion...VIDEO "FRIDAY"

OK. I'm going to institute a new tradition here at Ms. Bea's Helpful Hints. It's "Video Friday". (I don't work tomorrow, so it's Friday to me!).

This morning, I was looking for go-go dancing on the Youtubes and I found Dancin' Kim (and my new heroine). Oh, my goodness. Not only does she teach new dances (such as "How to Dance Like the Go-Gos" and "The Thriller"), but she couldn't get the rights to any of the music she references, she gets out of breath when she's dancing and narrating, and then there is the long blonde perm and grey leg warmers.

Wow.

I'm gonna post three today and save more for the next few days. Stay tuned...So, for your "Friday" enjoyment, Dancin' Kim:

Girlie-Q Variety Hour opens FRIDAY!

I'm really excited about this show (The Girlie-Q Variety Hour at Naked July)--We open on Friday and I hope you all come sometime in the run.

I was at the tech rehearsal last night and it makes me really proud to see all of the talented artists with whom I work shining and strutting their stuff on a great stage with professional lighting and great production values. Each person was fantastic last night and I lost track of time--it was 11pm when we left and I thought it was 9!

Let me just say that this show is completely different from anything you have seen in the scene. These performers have honed and spitshined their acts and there's none of the slapdash flavor that made Girlie-Q so charming in bars across the City. We are raising the bar on ourselves.

We have pulled together a fantastic cast of diverse performers who each embody their sense of queer in a different way. Not that they are all gay, but each one has their own queer flavor in a way that is beautiful and a delight to watch. And to have it all wrapped up in a package that celebrates the vintage variety format? Well, it is amazing.

(I know, I am the queen of superlatives this morning, but I'm just so impressed with us!)

All right here's the little tease (and believe me, we deliver on that tease): Come out and see Chicago's hottest cast of burlesque and variety performers strut their stuff in a show that seams together comedy, drag, juggling, live music (jazz, torch songs, a gal with a uke), and burlesque striptease with a queer twist. Yes, Martha, something is a little bit queer in here. The Girlie-Q Variety Hour at National Pastime. Fridays and Saturdays at Midnight, July 3 - August 1. Click to buy tickets.
