Happy Birthday to Me; Pride Recap

Another year gone by--hard to believe. It seems like the time just keeps moving faster.

Friday night was by far the best time of the weekend. Me and T met Finch McLovin' and Svetta for a quick drink at Moody's and then went to T's ex's house for yummy mojitos and snacks. It was really fun. K is a nice lady and she's got a kickin' patio. We sat around talkin' and drinkin' and muddlin' mint...By far the most relaxing part of the weekend.

This year's prom was a lot of fun. Everyone created amazing acts for the Under the Sea theme, Miss Derringer was great--and the lead singer was the sweetest gal I've met in a long time--and the crowd was fun. Me and T didn't get home until 3:30 AM (!) and crashed hard.

Sunday, we gathered up MainGay and headed down to the Pride Parade. Loud, annoying, crowded, full of straights. I always wonder why I want to go--I don't particularly feel like I am celebrating when I am there. I hate crowds, I dislike the sun, and I can never really SEE anything. (This year, an annoying straight lady decided to stand on a hydrant RIGHT in front of where we were standing, thus blocking the whole view.)

Best image from the pride parade: Caribou Coffee had a dude in a Caribou suit, who was leaning out onto the roof on his elbows through the moon roof, who was writhing and grinding to the house music behind him. Classic; sexy moose.

The best part about Sunday was the time after the parade. I passed out, taking a two hour nap, we went to a party on the back porch of our neighbor, and then MainGay took us out for ice cream and me and T rented "The Children's Hour", for a glimpse of how things were before we were allowed to be so proud in a huge crowd of people.

Yesterday was nice. Me and T had a semi-relaxing day. We went out to Kopi in the AM for a little birthday breakfast then cruised up to Evanston to pick up my old singer, which was in the shop at Vogue Fabrics. We hit our usual spots then I sewed the hell out of my costume for the Girlie-Q run. (It's amazing, peeps. Beautiful. Will post pics later). Last night: rehearsal and the Bachelor.

All right. Gotta jump--I actually have to WORK on my birthday. Boo on getting older...

xox,
Ms. Bea Haven
