Leaving on a Jet Plane

Photo: My luggage on the Foster Bus this morning.

I'm so excited.

This weekend, I'm heading to Atlanta to perform in the Mondo Homo Festival. It's going to be so nice to perform in a new city and meet some new people.

I've been thinking about it and, despite the best efforts to not take it all to heart, it is sometimes extremely sad to me that there is so much drama and contention in the Chicago burlesque community. It's a pretty small community and some of the would-be "leaders" are very extremely crazily bitch-ily territorial and draw little tiny circles around their fifedoms. It's totally tragic to me that it has to be that way. There are so few of us and at the end of the day, we could be a really great tightly-knit community.

But no, the bitchiness and the back-stabbiness rue the day.

But enough of the focusing on the negative. I'm super excited to meet a much of positive amazing queer women who do burlesque and drag from around the country. It seems to me that I need to do more of this--traveling to perform with other queer troupes and festivals. Every time I do this, I feel really excited and "fed".

OK, flight is boarding. Mas later, bitches!
